The Arts at Riverside County Office of Education (RCOE) invites elementary and middle school students to submit short films of any subject that is age and school appropriate. The submission can be done solo or in groups.

Please make sure the recording is done so that the background noise is minimal, and the lighting is bright enough that we can see the student(s) clearly. This contest is open to individual students (who can work with their family members or fellow students) or classroom groups.

The key ingredients the judges are looking for:

  • Films should be no longer than one minute in length.
  • A good story told with beginning, middle, and end.
  • Is the story an original one?
  • If not an original story, is the “remake” well done?
  • Proper lighting and sound.
  • Performers doing their best acting.
  • Costuming that helps create a character (optional).
  • Opening title and ending credits (optional).

This is an online contest only, and the work should be submitted by teachers and/or parents. Limit ten entries per teacher and five entries per family.
