Charter School Renewal Toolkit

The aim of creating this toolkit is to simplify the statute and build upon existing guidance to better support schools and authorizers towards a collaborative renewal process. It is important to understand how schools are identified and placed into each tier, as the California Department of Education tier placement list is not projected to be released until early 2024. The toolkit will enable schools to determine their respective renewal tier in conjunction with the California Dashboard. Once a renewal tier is identified, relevant considerations should be applied to each renewal process. Specifications for each renewal are included in an attempt to provide clarity for a common understanding.
