The 2023 student event season in Riverside County is set to begin with all events being held in person and some with virtual components. Students and coaches have been preparing for months to compete at the county level and earn invitations to state and national competitions.
Events are aligned, and in collaboration with, state and national competition guidelines.
Award Ceremonies are set to take place in person for each event.

ACADEMIC DECATHLON
What :
Academic competition with the 2023 theme “The American Revolution and the New Nation”.
When:

MOCK TRIAL
What:
Fictional legal trial competition with students trying the case as members of the defense and prosecution teams. This year’s trial is People vs. Franks.*
When:
Seven rounds of competition starting January 26, 2023 and ending with the finals on February 23.
2022 Champion: Notre Dame High School defeated Riverside Poly High School.
Notre Dame High School Advances to State Mock Trial, Individual Honors and Internships Awarded
2023 Participants: 20 high school teams and 383 students.

What:
A year-long educational program in which students become historians. The theme for 2023 is "Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas."

The traditional spelling bee will be held in person at Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center. The winner from Riverside County will move on to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.*
